Rana Yazaji


BA in theatrical studies from the Higher Institute of Dramatic Art, Damascus 2001, MA in designing, planning and managing cultural projects from the University of Paris III, MA in stage directing and dramataurgia from the University of Paris X. She has many studies and cultural materials published in Syrian and Arab newspapers.
Rana`s worked as a researcher in cultural policies and contributed in developing a study to monitor cultural policies in Syria which was published in a book “Introduction to Cultural Policies in the Arab Region” in addition to a range of relevant researches most importantly; “National Planning & Emerging Role of Civil Society Institutions in Syria” which was published in the yearbook of cultural policies issued by Istanbul Bilgi University, and other studies on cultural economics developed with Paris Dauphine University.
Rana was the manager of several projects and programs in the cultural field in a number of institutions including: General Secretary of Damascus Arab Capital of Culture 2008, “Rawafed” the cultural project for the Syrian Trust for Development.
By the end of 2011, she collaborated with several independent cultural activists in establishing Ettijahat...Independent Culture which deals with activating an authentic relationship between the independent cultural and artistic act on one hand, and the Syrian community with all its diversity and multiplicity. Rana Yazaji is the executive director of Al Mawred Al Thaqafy since 2014.
